Privacy Policy for Smart GPS Cam

Privacy Policy for Smart GPS Cam.

Last Updated: May 17, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Smart GPS Cam ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and handles your information when you use our mobile application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring a transparent user experience.

1. Information Collection and Use

To provide the core functionality of a GPS Camera with real-time watermarking, our app requires access to certain device features. We follow the principle of "Minimum Scope Access" as required by Google Play policies.

A. Location Information (Foreground Only) Smart GPS Cam is a specialized camera app. We access your device's precise location data (Latitude, Longitude) strictly in the foreground (only while the app is open and in use) to:
Add accurate geo-tags and address watermarks to the photos and videos you capture.
Provide "Live Map" and "Street View" features within the camera interface.
Power the "Coordinate Finder" tool for navigation. Policy Compliance: We do not access, collect, or track your location in the background. Location data is processed locally on your device to generate the watermark.

B. Camera and Microphone We require access to your device's Camera and Microphone to:
Capture photos and record videos.
The microphone is used exclusively during video recording to capture audio.

C. Photo and Media (Privacy-First Access) In compliance with the latest Google Play Photo and Video

Permissions policy:

No Broad Storage Access: Our app does not request broad access to your entire photo gallery or device storage (READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE is not used).
Saving Media: We use the Android MediaStore API to save your captured photos/videos directly to your device's shared storage (DCIM/SmartGpsCam).
Viewing Media: We use the System Photo Picker or System Gallery Intent to allow you to view your media.

D. User-Initiated Location Sharing: Our app includes a "Send Live Location" feature that allows you to manually share your current GPS coordinates with others through third-party applications. This sharing is strictly initiated by you; the app does not share your location automatically.

E. Media Processing (Foreground Services) -- [NEW ADDED] To ensure a reliable user experience, especially on Android 14 and above, our app uses Foreground Services (Media Processing and Data Sync) to:

Process and watermark high-quality videos in the background so that the operation is not interrupted if you switch apps.

Generate professional PDF and Excel reports from multiple images. These services show a persistent notification while active and are strictly used only during the duration of the media processing task.

2. Third-Party Services

Our app uses reliable third-party services that may collect information used to identify you or your device:
Meta & Unity Ads: To display advertisements.
Firebase (Google): We use Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to monitor app stability.
Google Maps SDK: Used to display maps for geotagging.
User Messaging Platform (UMP): To manage user consent for data collection and personalized ads.
Our app, through integrated third-party advertising and analytics SDKs (such as Meta Ads, Unity Ads, and Google Firebase), may access and collect information regarding the list of Installed Apps on your device. This data is processed securely to prevent advertising fraud, optimize ad delivery, provide personalized advertisements, and analyze app performance. This information is transmitted off-device to our trusted third-party SDK providers and is handled in accordance with their respective privacy policies.

3. Data Retention and Security

Local Processing: All photos and videos you take remain on your device. We never upload your private media or location history to our servers.
No Personal Identity: We do not collect names, email addresses, or phone numbers.
4. User Consent and Control

Permission Revocation: You can grant or revoke permissions at any time through your device settings.
Privacy Settings: Users can manage their ad consent via the "Privacy Settings" button in the app's Help section.

5. Children’s Privacy

Our services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy to reflect changes in app functionality. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
